Interested in Collaborating with Foot Care Kingston?
We have a variety of options available for organizations wishing to collaborate. General information is included below. Please contact our Operations Management Consultant and Liaison, Marie-Pierre Hamelin (email@example.com) for more information.
Textbook Resource for Independent Foot Care Nurse (FCN) Course - We currently have 38+ colleges and partners across Canada who use our textbook for their own uniquely developed course. The Art & Science of Foot Care: A Clinical Resource for Nurses in Canada (2017) was written with the Foot Care Nurse course in mind and is a peer-reviewed, multi-authored textbook that was developed through the collaboration of many experienced Canadian foot care professionals. If interested in using the textbook for your own uniquely developed Foot Care Nurse course, please note that the book is available for bulk purchase and/or individual purchase order through our textbook distributor Quality FootCare Products by calling their toll-free number 1-866-833-9352 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The textbook cost is currently $99.99 CAD + tax with FREE shipping within Canada. Note that the textbook cost will be increasing to $109.99 starting September 1, 2018. This will help us to more adequately cover the increasing costs of marketing, shipping, storage and printing. For more information about the textbook, please visit our bookstore page for details.
Customized Course - Our Foot Care Nurse (FCN) course has 2 parts. FCN Part 1 focuses on theory and is completed entirely online. This portion of the course runs 4x per year. Please visit our FCN Part 1 page for details. The second portion of the course, FCN Part 2, is in-person and provides clinical mentorship. This portion of the course is currently being offered in Kingston, Thunder Bay, Ottawa, Windsor and in Northern and Interior British Columbia. Additional locations for FCN Part 2 are anticipated over the next year. If however, there is an organization interested in hosting FCN Part 2 at an alternate location with a group of 4 nurses or more interested in taking the course at the same time, we may be able to have one of our Educators travel to that community to teach Part 2.
Hybrid FCN Course - Some locations develop their own clinical Foot Care Nurse course to meet the unique needs of their community, but prefer to have their students complete the theory online beforehand with Part 1 of Foot Care Kingston's Foot Care Nurse course. We call this a hybrid course. All organizations offering a hybrid course with Foot Care Kingston's FCN Part 1 must have a written agreement in place with Foot Care Kingston.
Join our Team - Foot Care Kingston is looking for experienced Foot Care Nurses that have taken our courses, to join our team of Preceptors and/or Educators. Check out the Join our Team page for more information on current opportunities and to apply. We hope this sparks an interest in new Foot Care Nurses, as this is a career option for all our graduates once they have accumulated a few years of experience.

Foot Care Nurse Facebook Groups
Did you know that Foot Care Nurses (FCNs) from across Canada can request to join the following closed foot care groups? In addition to Foot Care Nurses, some of these groups also include other interdisciplinary foot care health care providers from across the world.
Each group has a different focus, so you should read through to see which is the right fit for you. Personally, I have joined all of the Facebook groups below. I find it's one way to keep abreast of the advancements in foot care, find out about continuing education opportunities, network and share clinical experiences.
Here are the current 3 secure Facebook pages available to Foot Care Nurses:
Canadian Foot Care Nurses Practice Support Group
This group was initially created for practice support for FCNs in Canada and has expanded to include FCNs from the United States and some international nurses who do not have FCNs in their country, but need the support to do their jobs. Content from this group is geared towards Canadian FCNs and encourages all participants to 'mentor' and share their knowledge with other FCNs within the group.
Alberta Foot Care Nurses
This group is for Foot Care Nurses and other foot care medical professionals wishing to share their expertise, seek advice from their peers and learn about educational opportunities.
Foot Care Profession Educational Opportunities Group
This group's focus is sharing educational opportunities within the Foot Care community. Many of the participants are medical professionals and their clients holistically. The group welcomes educational opportunities that help participants be more well rounded and informed practitioners.
Inlow's 60-Second Foot Screen Updated
The recently updated Inlow's 60 Second Foot Screening tool has just been released. We encourage readers to take a look at Heather L. Orstead and Mariam Botros' article in the Summer 2018 issue of Wound Care Canada, Inlow's 60-Second Diabetic Foot Screen Gets a New Look!, to learn all about what the expanded tool has to offer.
