Foot Care Nurse Educator Course
The FCNEd course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach the clinical and mentorship portion of a Foot Care Nurse course. This comprehensive course explores lesson and event planning, presentation skills, marketing, and health and safety. The curriculum is based on current Best Practice Guidelines and evidence-based practice, including the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses’ National Competencies for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada (2017) and the WHO Nurse Educator Core Competencies (2016).
The FCNEd course is offered online and consists of four sections, each including an online evaluation based on readings (multiple-choice, true/false) and an exercise to be handed in by email (approximately 5 hours each section to be completed in approximately 4 weeks). Two additional video assignments will be assigned a five-week timeline (approximately 30 hours total). Students should also account for about 2 hours of administrative work setting themselves up online, filling out the pre- and post- self-evaluations and course evaluation.
The four sections must be completed before the video practical assignments are graded. However, nurses are free to complete the section evaluations and exercises, and two video assignments, at their own pace as long as all are handed in before the course deadline.
Prior to registering for the FCNEd course, all prospective students are encouraged to read the FCNEd Course Outline for information on course prerequisites and complete course details.
